The project of “Meteo” was implemented by Avtandil Gurgenidze and George Aptsiauri in August 2006.
“Mtis qokhi Betlemi” is located at 3750m. altitude in Kazbegi region of Georgia, on a south slope of Kazbegi peak (5033m.)
This building is a base for tourists and alpinists. It was built in 1937 and it still retains its strategic importance due to its location on the borderline, as well as scientific and tourist matters. It is distinguished by special architecture and according to our sources is one of the highest located huts in Europe.
The goal of our project was to participate in the process of rehabilitation of this building and we hope that it will soon become one of the best mountain huts in Europe and the world.
This project is also interesting in a way that it’s a joint work of two artists. We have had an experience of working together, the outcome of which was an exhibition at the “old Gallery” in 2003.
